Hamilton Clinches Sixth Position at Italian Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton acknowledged that Ferrari’s competitors displayed superior speed at the Italian Grand Prix, according to reports on Monday. The seven-time F1 champion, starting from P10, secured sixth place at Monza, while his Ferrari colleague, Charles Leclerc, finished fourth.
Following the race, Hamilton commented that Ferrari extracted the utmost performance possible under the existing circumstances.
Reflecting on the pace demonstrated by rival teams, the British racer admitted they were simply too quick to overtake.
“I’m sure we didn’t have the pace of the McLarens and the Red Bulls. But I definitely think Charles and I, if we were together, we could have had a strong race in perhaps keeping up with, maybe trying to keep up more with the guys further ahead,” Hamilton stated.
“I really don’t know. I just think they were just too fast, the competitors ahead, but I definitely believe we would have achieved fifth, or possibly fourth.”
Lewis Hamilton’s move from Mercedes to Scuderia occurred after the 2024 F1 season, making this year’s Italian Grand Prix his inaugural race on Ferrari’s home ground.
Hamilton conveyed his appreciation for the immense support received and lauded the fanbase.
“It’s everything one could hope for. Naturally, the ambition is to compete at the forefront, but it’s amazing to be on the receiving end. It’s Ferrari across the entire circuit,” he commented.
“The view from the pit straight is incredible – it stretches as far as the eye can see. It’s a dream to race for this team, and I’m truly committed to working diligently to one day reach the top step of the podium. That remains my ultimate goal.”
