Halliday Achieves Milestone with Top Score of 69 for New Zealand

GUWAHATI: During their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match against Bangladesh at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, New Zealand’s Brooke Halliday accomplished a significant feat on Friday.

Halliday, who played a steadying innings to score a half-century, reached a milestone of 1,000 runs in Women’s ODIs, becoming the 19th batter from New Zealand to achieve this.

The veteran all-rounder Suzie Bates currently holds the record for the most runs scored by a New Zealand batter in Women’s ODIs, with a total of 5,925 runs at an impressive average of 39.23. Halliday now stands in 19th place, with 1,012 runs from 43 innings, averaging 28.11.

Halliday led the White Ferns’ batting performance, scoring 69 runs off 104 balls, which included five boundaries and a six.

She also contributed to a crucial 112-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside captain Sophie Devine. This partnership was instrumental in New Zealand reaching a competitive total of 227/9 in their 50 overs.

Besides Halliday and Devine, opener Suzie Bates and middle-order batter Maddy Green made valuable contributions to New Zealand’s innings, scoring 29 and 25 runs, respectively.

For Bangladesh, Rabeya Khan was the standout performer, taking three wickets. Fahima Khatun, Nishita Akter Nishi, Nahida Akter, and Marufa Akter each claimed one wicket.

At the time of reporting, Bangladesh faced a tough challenge in their chase of the 228-run target, finding themselves at 116/8 in 37 overs, with Fahima showing resilience in the middle.
