Mohammad Masroor Joins Guyana Amazon Warriors as Fielding Coach
Former Pakistan fielding coach Mohammad Masroor has been appointed as the fielding coach for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the ongoing 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). This announcement was highlighted by the Karachi Kings, a Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, on their social media platforms.
Masroor previously contributed to the Karachi Kings’ coaching staff as an assistant coach and oversaw high-performance duties.
In 2024, Masroor, 50, took on the role of Pakistan’s fielding coach for the home series against Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. This marked his first significant role with the national team. Earlier, he supported the Pakistan Shaheens and Under-19 teams, and assisted Steve Rixon during the 2018 series against the West Indies.
However, in July 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided not to renew his contract, which was on a series-by-series agreement. This decision was part of a larger restructuring of the national team’s coaching staff in preparation for upcoming international matches.
Following his departure, Masroor expressed his gratitude on social media, stating:
“I extend my thanks to the players for their trust, the staff for their support, and the fans for their belief. Behind every catch and every victory was a dedicated team,” he shared.
“Although my time with the team concludes here, I will always remain a part of Pakistan cricket’s journey. Thank you, Pakistan. I leave with pride and optimism for the future,” he added.
Despite his efforts, Pakistan’s fielding performance has been under scrutiny, particularly during crucial matches in major tournaments such as the 2019 ICC World Cup, T20 World Cups, and Asia Cups, where critical errors often impacted the team negatively.
The CPL 2025 is currently underway and will continue until September 21. After four games, the Guyana Amazon Warriors lead the standings with one win and a net run-rate of 1.235. The Patriots are second with one win and one loss (NRR 0.577), and the Falcons are third with one loss and an NRR of -2.283.
