Central Districts Clinch Victory in Global Super League Clash

PROVIDENCE: In a thrilling encounter at Providence on Tuesday, Central Districts (CD) secured a 16-run triumph against Usama Mir’s Hobart Hurricanes during their Global Super League (GSL) 2025 match.

CD elected to bat after winning the toss, setting a target with a score of 167/4 in their 20 overs.

Key Innings
  • Tom Bruce led the charge with a rapid 62 off 36 deliveries, punctuated by eight fours and a six. His aggressive play steadied the innings and proved crucial for the team.
  • Curtis Heaphy contributed a vital 50 from 38 balls, hitting six boundaries.
  • Will Young added 24 runs, and Matthew Ford scored 14. Despite scores of seven runs each from Dane Cleaver and Dean Foxcroft, their combined effort established a competitive total.

The middle order faltered, with Jake Doran (17), captain Ben McDermott (16), and Nikhil Chaudhary (12) failing to provide sufficient support. Five batsmen did not reach double digits.

Central Districts’ bowling attack was disciplined, with Ajaz Patel leading with 2/18 in four overs. Blair Tickner also took 2/34, while Angus Schaw, Jayden Lennox, and Foxcroft each claimed one wicket.
