Galatasaray Secures Osimhen in Landmark Deal

Galatasaray has officially announced the acquisition of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli for a record-breaking €75 million ($87.5 million). The announcement was made by the Turkish club on Thursday.

The Nigerian international previously showcased his talents with Galatasaray on loan last season, where he scored an impressive 26 goals in 30 appearances. His performance made him the league’s top scorer, contributing significantly to the Super Lig champions’ 25th league title victory.

Osimhen has committed to Galatasaray with a four-year contract, marking the highest transfer fee in Turkish football history. The previous record was held by Fenerbahce’s acquisition of Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla for €20 million last year, who signed a five-year contract.

The agreement includes a clause stipulating that Napoli will receive 10% of any future transfer fee from Osimhen’s subsequent move, according to a statement from Galatasaray.

“A four-year contract has been formalized with the player, commencing from the 2025-2026 season,” Galatasaray stated.

The agreement specifies a guaranteed net salary of €15.0 million for each season for the 26-year-old.

In addition to his salary, Osimhen will receive a net loyalty bonus of €1 million per season and €5 million in image rights payments. These payments compensate the player for the use of his name, image, and likeness in the club’s branding and promotional activities.

Napoli has also verified the specifics of the agreement.

Osimhen, a key member of Napoli’s title-winning team in 2023, had garnered interest from several top European clubs before ultimately choosing to join Galatasaray.

Before joining Napoli, Osimhen played for Lille and Wolfsburg and has scored 26 goals in 40 appearances for the Nigerian national team.
