Itauma Set to Clash with Whyte in Saudi Arabia
Moses Itauma is scheduled to face Dillian Whyte on August 16 in Saudi Arabia. Tyson Fury has weighed in on the upcoming bout, refraining from predicting a definite victor. Fury mentioned that Dillian Whyte has the capability to replicate Martin Bakole’s performance against Jared Anderson. Conversely, Moses Itauma could leverage this as a platform to showcase his prowess on a significant stage, according to international reports released on Wednesday.
Itauma has recently distinguished himself as a formidable competitor, boasting an unblemished record of 12 wins, with 10 secured by way of knockout. The 20-year-old is known for his remarkable skills and has drawn comparisons to legendary figures such as Mike Tyson from a young age.
Whyte’s career has seen periods of inactivity after a positive test for a prohibited substance, which was subsequently attributed to a tainted supplement, allowing him to resume fighting. Following this, Whyte achieved a victory over Christian Hammer in March 2024 and halted Ebenezer Tetteh in the seventh round before an injury forced him to withdraw from a scheduled fight against Joe Joyce earlier in 2025.
Fury, who defeated Whyte in 2022 via a sixth-round knockout, commented that the fight presents a valuable opportunity for Moses, while also acknowledging that Whyte is approaching the match with utmost seriousness.
“Indeed, this is a favorable matchup, particularly for Moses. I believe it’s an opportune moment to face Dillian, considering his absence from the ring for a couple of years. However, it’s important to recognize that Dillian possesses considerable punching power, targeting both the head and body. I am aware that he is preparing diligently. I’ve been in contact with Ty Mitchell, who is part of his training camp,” Fury stated.
Fury further remarked that it would be intriguing to observe Dillian’s current capabilities, suggesting that Whyte might leverage his experience to overcome Moses, but acknowledging the young fighter’s inherent potential.
“This represents a significant advancement for Moses, as he has not previously competed against someone of Dillian’s caliber, at least not the Dillian of recent years. It will be interesting to gauge Dillian’s remaining abilities,” Fury added.
“There is potential for this bout to mirror Martin Bakole’s performance against Jared Anderson. It’s possible that it’s premature, or perhaps he will excel. Consequently, it warrants close observation to determine the outcome.
“One notable aspect of Moses is his exceptional talent as a fighter, demonstrating excellent boxing skills and a commendable character. He possesses a keen ability to learn, readily absorbing and implementing instructions.”
Itauma is primed to confront Whyte on August 16 within Saudi Arabia.
