Tyson Fury Weighs In on Potential Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul Matchup
Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury expressed his thoughts on Wednesday regarding a prospective fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul, suggesting it would be a compelling contest.
The possibility of a bout between two-time heavyweight titleholder Joshua and YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul has gained traction, particularly as Paul has actively pursued the matchup, asserting that Joshua himself has contacted him to explore the possibility. While Joshua has responded favorably to the informal proposal, a large segment of fans are hoping to see him face Fury in a highly anticipated all-British heavyweight clash.
However, Fury has recently stated that he is content in retirement and will not be returning to the ring to fight Joshua, making the likelihood of that particular fight remote. Amidst the speculation surrounding a potential Paul-Joshua fight, Fury has offered his perspective on how such a match might unfold.
“I anticipate it being a competitive fight, a genuine 50/50 situation,” Fury remarked.
Paul’s recent return to the ring occurred on Saturday, following his controversial victory over Mike Tyson last November. He secured a decisive unanimous decision in a cruiserweight bout against former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. This win potentially places him in the top 15 of the cruiserweight rankings. He also faced off with Zurdo Ramirez, a title holder, hinting at a possible future world title fight.
Conversely, Joshua last competed in September 2024, suffering a defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, during which he sustained injuries. However, he has announced his intention to return to the ring in December 2025, following a successful elbow surgery.
