Fawad Alam Remarks on Babar Azam’s Performance Against Mohammad Amir
Fawad Alam, the seasoned Test batsman for Pakistan, lauded Mohammad Amir, the experienced Quetta Gladiators’ bowler, as the nation’s ‘most astute’ bowler.
During his appearance on the programme, Haarna Mana Hai, following the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 match between Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, Alam acclaimed Amir as one of Pakistan’s finest and most intelligent bowlers since the early 2000s.
“There is no comparison when considering Amir’s skill. He stands out as one of the best and most intelligent bowlers we’ve had in a considerable time,” Alam stated.
“After Mohammad Asif—specifically, following the era of prominent names in the early 2000s—Asif and Mohammad Amir were the two top pacers we possessed.
“In my opinion, we haven’t encountered many bowlers with Amir’s level of intelligence since his emergence. While every player representing Pakistan possesses skill, intelligence is a rarer quality.”
Fawad Alam observed, in reference to Amir’s dismissal of Babar, that the seasoned bowler seemed to understand how to outwit the star batter.
He further noted that Babar appeared to be feeling the strain while facing Amir.
“Mohammad Amir was clearly aware of the strategy to dismiss Babar Azam, and it was evident that Babar was under pressure when facing him,” he commented.
“When a batter is aware that he is competing against an intelligent bowler, he recognises that the bowler is aware of his vulnerabilities. Amir makes excellent use of a batter’s flaws.
“It feels inadequate, no matter how much one discusses Amir’s talent and intellect.”
Notably, Amir has taken Babar’s wicket twice in the current PSL 10 season, adding to the intensity of one of the league’s most watched matchups.
