Antigua and Barbuda Falcons Secure CPL Playoff Berth

In a low-scoring contest at Providence Stadium on Wednesday, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons clinched a spot in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 playoffs by defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors by four wickets.

After electing to bat, the Warriors struggled and were dismissed for a mere 99 runs in 18.1 overs. The Falcons’ bowlers, Usama Mir, Imad Wasim, and Jayden Seales, delivered exceptional performances.

Wicketkeeper Shai Hope offered some resistance, scoring 26 runs off 14 deliveries, while Quentin Sampson contributed 19 runs from 15 balls. Despite starts from openers Moeen Ali (10) and Ben McDermott (14), the remaining batsmen failed to capitalize.

Seales spearheaded the bowling attack, claiming 4/15 in 3.1 overs. Mir was equally effective, securing 3/17 in four overs. Imad Wasim and Shakib Al Hasan each took a wicket.

The Falcons faced an early setback in their chase of 100, finding themselves at 36-5 in 6.1 overs.

However, Amir Jangoo’s resilient innings, along with crucial support from captain Imad Wasim, shifted the momentum.

Jangoo remained unbeaten with 51 runs off 57 balls, including three boundaries and a pair of sixes. Imad contributed 16 runs off 24 balls, and Fabian Allen added a vital 15 not out from 14 deliveries, guiding their team to victory in the final over with four wickets remaining.

For the Warriors, Imran Tahir and Moeen Ali each picked up two wickets, while Dwaine Pretorius took one.
