Rick Macci Predicts Alcaraz and Swiatek for French Open 2025

Serena Williams’ former coach, Rick Macci, has designated Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek as his frontrunners to secure the men’s and women’s singles titles at the French Open 2025.

In contrast to most experts who are supporting ATP World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and WTA No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to achieve victory at Roland Garros, Macci has diverged by choosing Alcaraz and Swiatek.

Macci took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and voiced his belief in Alcaraz’s potential to dominate on the clay surfaces of Paris.

Macci’s Statement on Alcaraz

“Alcaraz is my selection to emerge victorious at the French Open. The crucial element for the Magician is to employ calculated aggression in every game. Victory hinges on utilizing his agility and height, maximizing aerial shots. When he commits unforced errors, it elevates his opponents. Their belief fuels their accomplishment,” Macci penned.

Regarding the women’s title, Macci, renowned for shaping the careers of Venus and Serena Williams, endorsed three-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek, despite her recent challenges.

Macci’s Statement on Swiatek

“Against the odds, my choice to win the French is IGA. Her performance and trajectory are currently at a critical juncture. She has displayed remarkable mental resilience, yet vulnerabilities are now apparent. The accumulation of lost confidence and mounting pressure can potentially reignite her championship mentality,” he conveyed in another tweet.

Macci’s backing of Swiatek has sparked debate among tennis commentators, particularly given her recent decline in form. The Polish player was defeated in the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open by Jelena Ostapenko and experienced a semi-final defeat against Coco Gauff at the Madrid Open.

Alcaraz, on the other hand, enters the French Open with positive energy, having triumphed over World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the Italian Open final.
