Navas Chooses Ronaldo Over Messi, Reflecting on Shared Football Journey

Former goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who played for both Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid, has expressed his preference for Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi.

Both Ronaldo and Messi are globally recognized as football legends, making it a challenge to select one as superior. Messi holds eight Ballon d’Or awards, while Ronaldo has secured five.

Regarding UEFA Champions League titles, Ronaldo leads with five wins compared to Messi’s four.

In an interview with a Mexican television channel, Navas admitted the difficulty in choosing but ultimately sided with his former Real Madrid teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Navas stated, “It’s tough, but if I had to pick, mainly due to the experiences I shared with him, I’d go with Cristiano.”

He acknowledged Messi’s exceptional talent and his unique achievements that might remain unmatched.

“Messi is an extraordinary player, arguably the best globally, blessed with innate talent. His accomplishments are likely to stand the test of time,” Navas commented.

Navas explained that his choice of Ronaldo is influenced by witnessing Ronaldo’s commitment and professionalism, while also praising Messi’s skills.

“For me, Cristiano is the best because I see his daily dedication and professionalism, which constantly amazes me,” he said.

“They are both remarkable players. Currently, I consider Ronaldo the best, but it would be unfair to overlook Messi’s exceptional abilities.”
Navas participated in 125 matches alongside Ronaldo, jointly securing three Champions League titles and one league title. Additionally, he played 16 games with Messi during his time at PSG.
