Tiwary Suggests Kohli Felt Unwanted in Indian Team

Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary expressed his surprise at Virat Kohli’s unexpected retirement from Test cricket. He stated that Kohli still had a good three to four years of cricket ahead of him.

In a recent media interaction, Tiwary mentioned that Kohli’s announcement was astonishing for fans and experts. He highlighted that Kohli was actively preparing for the England series and was in top physical form.

Kohli’s Potential Retirement Timeline

“There’s no doubt he could have easily continued playing for at least another three to four years,” Tiwary commented.

“The news was quite surprising and shocking for all cricket enthusiasts, myself included. We were all aware of his physical fitness and his intense preparation for the England series.”

Speculations on the Reason Behind Kohli’s Decision

Tiwary admitted he wasn’t aware of the specific reasons for Kohli’s choice but speculated that the 35-year-old may have felt a lack of adequate backing within the team’s current structure.

Tiwary’s Perspective

“I’m not privy to the exact details or behind-the-scenes events. My feeling is that he might have sensed a lack of appreciation within Team India. However, only he truly knows the reason.

“Given his personal growth and contentment, I doubt he will ever disclose the real reason publicly. He seems at peace with his life,” Tiwary added.

Tiwary also noted Kohli’s increased inclination towards spirituality, suggesting that this could have played a role in his decision to retire from the longer format of the game.

“His growing spirituality is noticeable. Often, spiritual individuals tend to set aside worldly pursuits and concentrate on the present. They avoid dwelling on past events. He has evolved significantly, and I don’t anticipate him revealing the true reasons behind his decision,” he elaborated.

Kohli’s Test retirement announcement came in May, just before the squad announcement for India’s five-match series against England.

Kohli concluded his 14-year Test career, featuring in 123 matches and captaining 68 of them.

He scored 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, solidifying his status as one of the leading batsmen of his time.
