Haaland Nets 300th Career Goal in Manchester City’s Victory
Erling Haaland celebrated his 300th career goal in fewer appearances than football icons Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé. This milestone occurred as Manchester City dominated Juventus with a 5-2 victory during a FIFA Club World Cup match held in Orlando.
Haaland achieved this feat in just 370 games, significantly less than Ronaldo’s 554, Messi’s 418, and Mbappé’s 409 games.
The goal, which extended Manchester City’s advantage to 3-1 against Juventus, marked Haaland’s 123rd goal for the Premier League club in 145 appearances. It also signified his 300th overall goal across spells with Molde, RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, and the Norwegian national team.
Haaland, aged 24, began the game against Juventus on the bench, entering the field at halftime to replace Omar Marmoush.
The Norwegian international wasted no time, scoring just seven minutes after his introduction by converting a close-range opportunity.
Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, lauded Haaland for his achievement and commended him for reaching this milestone at the age of 24.
What the Manager Said:
Guardiola remarked, “I extend my congratulations. Scoring 300 goals at 24 is remarkable. I greatly admire strikers, and I am delighted for Erling, his goal, and his impactful presence in tight spaces. He’s exceptionally talented.”
Manchester City concluded the group stage with a flawless record, securing three wins out of three to top Group G, and leading the tournament with 13 goals. They are now set to clash with Al Hilal in the round of 16 on Monday in Orlando.
Meanwhile, Juventus is scheduled to face Real Madrid on Tuesday in Miami Gardens, having finished as the runners-up in Group G.
