Enhanced Security Measures Implemented for PSL X Matches

The Punjab Home Department has formally requested the Ministry of Interior to deploy army and Rangers personnel to bolster security during the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL X). The matches are scheduled to take place in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.

High-Profile Event Necessitates Increased Security

Given the involvement of international players and officials, PSL X is considered a high-profile event. To ensure the safety of all participants and attendees, comprehensive security measures are being put in place. This includes safeguarding the matches, team movements, and accommodations.

Deployment Details

The home department has proposed stationing a wing of Rangers personnel and two companies of the army in each host city. These forces will assist local police in maintaining security, particularly during team travels and hotel stays. The deployment is sought under Article 245 of the Constitution and the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
