England Clinches White-Ball Series Sweep Against West Indies

England achieved a dominant white-ball series victory over West Indies at the Utilita Bowl, securing a 37-run triumph in the third T20I and demonstrating their strength in the format.

The victory represents successive 3-0 series wins in Harry Brook’s initial matches as England’s limited-overs captain. Furthermore, this is England’s first T20I series whitewash since they defeated Sri Lanka in 2021.

After being asked to bat first by West Indies captain Shai Hope, England amassed a significant 248 for 3—their second-highest score in T20Is and their highest ever on home ground.

Duckett’s and Smith’s Performances

Ben Duckett shone, scoring a rapid 84, following a 120-run opening partnership with debutant Jamie Smith, who achieved his first T20I half-century with a smooth 60.

England’s aggressive batting persisted with quick contributions from the middle order, most notably Jacob Bethell’s unbeaten 36, which provided late impetus to the innings.

In reply, West Indies struggled in their attempt to chase the imposing target. Despite Shai Hope’s optimism about the pitch’s consistency, England’s total proved insurmountable.

Rovman Powell spearheaded the response with an impressive 79* from 45 deliveries—his tenth T20I score of fifty or more—but the visitors only managed 211 for 8.

The match set a new record for the highest total runs scored in a T20I played in England.

It also shifted the historical head-to-head record between the two teams in England’s favor for the first time, with the hosts now leading 19-18.

Duckett’s half-century, reached in just 20 balls, was the fourth-fastest by an English batter in T20Is—a notable achievement for a player becoming a key multi-format opener for England.
