KL Rahul Credits Formula 1 Expertise for Enhanced Reaction Time

LONDON: KL Rahul disclosed on Sunday his distinctive approach to preparing for the England tour, acknowledging Formula 1 experts for his century in the first innings of the Lord’s Test.

During the third Test against England, Rahul told the media that he has been refining his reaction time with the assistance of coaches experienced in Formula 1, a sport where rapid reflexes are paramount.

Rahul mentioned, “Over the past year or two, I’ve engaged in several mental exercises. I’ve dedicated time to collaborating with a specialist who aids in sharpening my reaction time, incorporating mental exercises and games designed to boost reflexes.”

The 33-year-old shared that his collaboration with Formula 1 coaches in Austria has contributed to enhancing his abilities and reaction speed.

“I’ve observed this trend frequently in Formula 1. I learned about this from an individual I worked with in Salzburg, Austria. I was fortunate to visit and train with some coaches,” he stated.

The Indian opening batsman illuminated the unique groundwork underlying his achievements.

“This collaboration with top-tier Formula One personnel and individuals in adventure sports, which heavily rely on the mental aspect, has been invaluable. So I’ve been dedicated to that, and I believe that’s the primary change in the last year or so,” he added.

Rahul expressed his comfort with the potential of consistently playing in his favored opening position moving forward.

“I’ve consistently relished long batting periods, even during my formative years. Throughout my junior cricket days, I always enjoyed prolonged batting sessions and maintaining focus for extended durations. I believe a blend of that and the recent training has aided me in recent years,” Rahul commented.

“Throughout my career, I’ve aimed for consistency and sustained performance. I’m pleased that my performances have reflected this in recent years,” he concluded.
