Lloyd Urges PCB to Support Hesson for Extended Period

David Lloyd, the former England cricketer and well-known commentator, has advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to prioritize consistency within its coaching structure.

Lloyd specifically suggested that Mike Hesson, the newly appointed head coach, should be given a tenure of at least two and a half years to implement his strategies and build a strong team.

In a social media interview, Lloyd expressed admiration for Hesson’s coaching abilities and reputation.

“Having collaborated with him in New Zealand, I can attest that Hesson is an exceptional coach,” Lloyd stated.

“He’s outstanding, a superb individual. He performed remarkably well with New Zealand. He’s unassuming but effective, and he encourages players to express their unique styles. I sincerely hope he is afforded ample opportunity,” he added.

The 78-year-old also advised the PCB to insulate the sport from political interference, stressing that the board should steadfastly support its decisions.

“Once a decision is reached and a person is selected, it’s crucial to stand by that choice. See if they can stabilize the environment and create a dressing room where players are eager to participate. While I’m skeptical this will happen, it’s vital to keep politics out,” he remarked.

Lloyd further commented that while five years is an ideal coaching term, Hesson should at least be guaranteed two and a half years to demonstrate his capabilities.

He voiced his optimism that the PCB would provide the new coach with a complete opportunity this time around.

“I hope he remains for two and a half years, which isn’t a long duration. I served for three and a half years and would have liked to continue. Five years is a reasonable term to make a substantial contribution. Granting him two and a half years allows him a fair chance. He is a highly impressive individual,” he concluded.
