Anderson Advocates for Archer’s Inclusion in Third Test

The third Test match between England and India is slated to commence on July 10 at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Prior to the upcoming match, James Anderson, the celebrated fast bowler, has proposed a strategy for England. He suggests incorporating Jofra Archer into the starting lineup for the crucial third Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground, beginning July 10.

During a YouTube podcast appearance, Anderson asserted that England ‘must’ field Archer in the pivotal third Test. He cautioned that delaying Archer’s entry into the team could represent a significant tactical error.

“I anticipate he will participate. While there might be a temptation to gradually increase his workload and utilize him later in the series, it might be too late by then,” Anderson commented.

He further noted that Archer has been with the squad since the second Test and appears prepared to contribute.

“He participated in a match for Sussex and was present with the team at Edgbaston, where he bowled. I simply believe that he needs to be included. The game is too vital to omit him,” he elaborated.

Anderson also advised England’s coaching staff to consider Archer’s physical condition, while expressing his confidence in the bowler’s readiness.

“I would have preferred Archer to have played more cricket, but the England team believes he has sufficiently managed his workload. I am optimistic about his performance,” he stated.

Archer’s presence could revitalize England’s bowling unit, which seemed weary during the second Test, where they conceded 587 and 427-6 declared at Edgbaston.

Previously, England’s captain, Ben Stokes, along with head coach Brendon McCullum, had indicated Archer’s potential involvement in the third Test.

Notably, the ongoing five-match Test series between England and India stands level at 1-1.

England secured victory in the first Test, while India responded with a win in the second. The third Test is scheduled to begin on July 10 at the renowned Lord’s Cricket Ground.
