India Faces Uphill Battle Against England at Lord’s

LONDON: England’s bowling attack showcased dominance in the second innings of the Lord’s Test, placing India in a precarious situation at the end of Day Four as they pursue a target of 193 runs.

The Indian side concluded the day at 58/4, still requiring 135 runs for victory, with only six wickets remaining.

Earlier, England resumed their second innings at 2-0 and were eventually bowled out for 192.

Key Performances

Joe Root led the scoring for England with 40 runs, while captain Ben Stokes added a valuable 33.

Other contributions came from Harry Brook (23), Zak Crawley (22), Ben Duckett (12), and Chris Woakes (10), who all reached double figures.

However, five English batsmen failed to make a significant impact, as the Indian bowlers maintained pressure.

A significant blow came with the dismissal of Indian captain Shubman Gill for only six runs, also falling victim to Carse’s bowling.

Ben Stokes further compounded India’s problems by clean bowling night-watchman Akash Deep for one, leaving India struggling.

At the close of play on day four, India stood at 58/4. They now need 135 additional runs to secure victory, while England require just six wickets to clinch the match.
