Edwards Secures Spot in PFL Middleweight Tournament Final

Fabian Edwards of Britain has successfully advanced to the final round of the PFL middleweight tournament. This achievement followed a decisive victory against American Josh Silveira at the Wintrust Arena on Friday, with judges scoring the bout unanimously in Edwards’ favor.

The 32-year-old fighter showcased a commanding display, delivering impactful blows and maintaining control throughout the competition.

Edwards demonstrated dominance during the fight, effectively thwarting takedown attempts and inflicting damage on Silveira with a notable knee strike to the torso.

He also executed a pair of takedowns, even offering a thumbs-up gesture to the cameras during the final round while maintaining a superior position.

With his brother, former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, supporting him from ringside, Fabian is now set to compete against Dalton Rosta of America in the final showdown. The event is scheduled for August 21 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, where the victor will be awarded a $500,000 prize.

Edwards is determined to complete a comeback story after previous defeats in title fights against Johnny Eblen in both 2023 and 2024.

He regained his winning form back in April by securing a second-round knockout against Impa Kasanganay. He sustained that energy into his contest with Silveira.

Separately, Alfie Davis, another British fighter, also secured his place in the PFL finals by defeating Brent Primus in the lightweight tournament. Davis is now scheduled to face Gadzhi Rabadanov of Russia on August 15 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In the light-heavyweight division, Simeon Powell’s journey concluded in the semi-final against Antonio Carlos Jr, a former UFC competitor. Despite a strong effort in the final stages, Powell couldn’t overcome Carlos Jr’s earlier advantage. Carlos Jr previously claimed the PFL light-heavyweight title back in 2021.
