Djokovic Advances to US Open Quarterfinals
Novak Djokovic secured his place in the US Open quarterfinals by defeating Jan-Lennard Struff with scores of 6-3, 6-3, 6-2. The match took place at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday, where Djokovic received medical attention during the round of 16 competition.
This victory marks Djokovic’s 64th Grand Slam quarter-final appearance, further solidifying his record. He remains in contention for a historic 25th major title.
The Serbian athlete acknowledged the personal sacrifice of playing the quarterfinal match on his daughter’s birthday, highlighting the challenges at this stage of his career.
“She wasn’t too happy about my absence from her birthday celebration. Please, let’s not dwell on that,” Djokovic commented. He also became the oldest competitor to reach the quarter-finals in all four Grand Slam tournaments within a single season.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, showcased a strong performance in his round of 16 match, defeating Arthur Rinderknech of France with scores of 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-4.

Taylor Fritz from America defeated Tomas Machac, the Czech Republic’s 21st seed, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, progressing to the US Open quarter-finals for the third consecutive year.
On the women’s bracket, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka triumphed over Cristina Bucsa from Spain with a score of 6-1, 6-4 during the round of 16 at the US Open.
