Giants Secure Fourth Straight Victory

SAN FRANCISCO: In a Major League Baseball (MLB) game on Wednesday night, Rafael Devers propelled the San Francisco Giants to a 12-3 victory against the Chicago Cubs by contributing two of his team’s four home runs. Matt Chapman celebrated his 200th career homer during the clash.

Devers also added a double for one run, a single, and a walk, accumulating five RBIs. His performance assisted the Giants in securing their second successive win against the Cubs.

This triumph marks the Giants’ fourth consecutive win as they strive to maintain their playoff aspirations in the National League wild-card competition.

Nico Hoerner initially put the Cubs ahead in the second inning, hitting a three-run homer off Giants pitcher Carson Whisenhunt (2-1) to make it 3-1.

However, the Giants seized control for the remainder of the game. Devers’ solo homer in the first inning was instrumental, putting San Francisco on the scoreboard.

Devers also played a crucial role in the Giants’ three-run third inning, contributing an RBI with a ground-rule double. He solidified the Giants’ command in the sixth inning with a three-run homer, extending their lead to 10-3. These were his 26th and 27th homers of the season, respectively.

The baseball traveled over 100 feet, soaring over catcher Carson Kelly’s head, enabling Dominic Smith to score the hit’s second run.

Colin Rea conceded seven runs (six earned) from eight hits across four and two-thirds innings, along with two walks and two strikeouts.

This game marked Devers’ 21st career game with two home runs and his second since joining the Giants.

It was also Rafael Devers’ first career performance featuring two homers, four runs, and five RBIs.

Carson Whisenhunt pitched for five innings, allowing three runs from five hits, with three walks and three strikeouts.
