Dave Allen Predicts Dubois Victory in Usyk Rematch
British heavyweight boxer Dave Allen is forecasting a win for Daniel Dubois in his highly anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. The bout is scheduled for July 19 at Wembley Stadium.
The initial encounter between Usyk and Dubois occurred in August 2023. Usyk emerged victorious in Poland, securing a ninth-round knockout after twice dropping Dubois. However, the fight was marked by controversy when Usyk went down from a punch that officials deemed a low blow.
Following his defeat against Usyk, Dubois has bounced back with impressive victories over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua.
His triumph over Joshua was particularly significant, earning him the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title.
Oleksandr Usyk remains undefeated since his previous clash with Dubois, having defeated Tyson Fury in two consecutive matches. The first victory crowned him as the undisputed heavyweight champion for the first time in 24 years, while the second solidified his position by unifying the belts.
In a recent interview, Allen shared his prediction, confidently backing Dubois to emerge as the victor.
Allen’s Perspective
“I’m calling for a Dubois win. I believe timing is crucial. Usyk is approaching 40 and may not be a true heavyweight anymore,” Allen stated.
“I don’t believe he is a heavyweight naturally. He could still compete at cruiserweight. Daniel Dubois is consistently improving, and I think now is the opportune moment for Daniel Dubois to defeat Usyk,” he added.
Following Oleksandr Usyk’s consecutive fights with Tyson Fury, he was compelled to relinquish his IBF title. Dubois subsequently claimed the title. With the IBF belt now in the possession of the British boxer, all heavyweight titles are back in contention, thereby heightening the stakes for the upcoming match.
