Dubois Aims for Victory in Upcoming Rematch
British boxer Daniel Dubois asserted on Wednesday his ambition to etch his name in the annals of boxing history by triumphing over world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in their highly anticipated rematch at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.
Dubois and Usyk initially clashed in August 2023, a bout held in Poland where Usyk secured victory through a ninth-round knockout after twice flooring the British contender.
The fight, however, was not without controversy, as a punch that dropped the Ukrainian was deemed a low blow by the officiating team.
Following his defeat against Usyk, Daniel Dubois has shown resilience, achieving victories against Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. Many experts predict Dubois will win the upcoming fight.
Dubois conveyed his readiness for the rematch against Usyk, stating his intention to win and secure his place in boxing history.
“I am currently in top form and believe I am unbeatable. I am committed to doing everything necessary to win. We are here now, so there are no more excuses. I must defeat him this time; I am going to win, I’m 100% ready,” Dubois stated in an interview.
“This fight is about legacy, which is more significant than mere glory. It is about securing a place in history, ensuring that my name is remembered in the future.”
Dubois also shared his strategy for Saturday night, stating that he intends to aggressively pursue and overwhelm Usyk from the opening bell.
“As the bell sounds, my strategy is to seek and destroy him, create disorder, and seize victory. It’s about capitalizing on the moment,” Dubois concluded.
