UFC White House Event Scheduled for June 14
UFC CEO Dana White has addressed Conor McGregor’s assertion about a fight at the White House, clarifying that nothing has been officially agreed upon yet. White suggested that fans should temper their expectations regarding the McGregor fight until all details are finalized.
Former US President Donald Trump, a friend of White, previously announced that the UFC event at the White House is slated for June 14 of the following year, coinciding with his 80th birthday. White had met with Trump in September to discuss the event, including potential fight cards and renderings of the UFC Octagon setup on the South Lawn.
McGregor is rumored to be the main attraction, even claiming that his bout against Michael Chandler is confirmed. He mentioned negotiating with the US government, instead of the UFC CEO.
However, Dana White has stated that he hasn’t engaged in discussions with McGregor or any other fighter regarding the fights for the event, implying that McGregor’s participation isn’t a certainty.
“We are still in talks about the production aspects and logistics for the White House event,” White commented.
“Negotiations for fights at the White House haven’t commenced and won’t until February. Conor has expressed his desire to compete on the card, and it’s evident that he is enthusiastic about it.
“However, no agreements have been reached, and fight negotiations with the White House haven’t begun.”
McGregor hasn’t competed in the Octagon since his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
His planned comeback at UFC 303 in 2024 against Michael Chandler during International Fight Week was called off due to a toe injury.
