Alexander Isak Linked with Potential Liverpool Transfer

Newcastle United’s defender, Dan Burn, has expressed concern that the departure of a player of Alexander Isak’s quality would negatively impact the team, according to recent reports from international media.

Speculation suggests that Isak is strongly being considered by Liverpool, and should this transfer materialize, Liverpool would be the frontrunners to secure his services.

Newcastle has consistently been hesitant to let go of the player. Isak’s absence from Eddie Howe’s 30-man squad for their pre-season tour in Asia was attributed to a ‘minor thigh injury’. However, reports indicate that an offer of £150 million ($203m) might cause the club to reconsider its stance.

Isak was notably absent from Newcastle’s friendly match against Celtic on Saturday as well, a game which the Magpies lost 4-0.

Upon arrival for the club’s preseason tour, Burn conveyed that Isak’s potential exit would indeed affect the players, voicing his hope that the Swedish international remains with the team.

“Losing any player would disrupt our close-knit group that has developed over the past two or three years,” Dan Burn stated.

“The departure of any player is unhelpful, but we are focused on managing what we can control.

“We anticipate Alex’s return once he is fit. The decision ultimately rests with Alex. He is a significant player for us, although we possess considerable quality within the squad. The addition of Anthony [Elanga] is also a positive acquisition, in my opinion.”

Alexander Isak showcased his prowess by scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season, playing a key role in Newcastle’s Champions League qualification and their Carabao Cup victory.

Newcastle is scheduled to face Arsenal on Sunday, July 27, in Singapore, after their tour to South Korea where they will compete against a K-League All-Star team on July 30, followed by a match against Tottenham on August 3.
