Imad Wasim Aims to Excel as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons Captain
KARACHI: Imad Wasim, the former Pakistan all-rounder, has been named captain of the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, which is slated to commence on Friday.
The Falcons announced the appointment via their social media platforms, unveiling an animated Captain America-themed video featuring the all-rounder.
Imad’s CPL experience includes seven seasons and 64 matches, where he has secured 70 wickets with an impressive average of 20.22. Additionally, he has accumulated 802 runs, including two half-centuries.
Upon being appointed as the Falcons’ captain for the approaching season, Imad expressed his honor and pledged to deliver strong performances, particularly for the team’s fanbase.
“It’s a great honor to lead any team, especially the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. Considering our performance last year, we aim to achieve success for our fans, owners, supporters, and the team,” Imad stated.
He also voiced his confidence in the team’s composition, highlighting players like Rahkeem Cornwall, the seasoned Shakib Al Hasan, and the in-form Jayden Seales. He emphasized the importance of team cohesion for achieving collective success.
“We have a solid team with Rahkeem, Shakib, and Jayden Seales, who is in excellent form,” Imad noted.
“Our focus is on integrating well, playing as a unified unit, and maintaining consistent performance. While we have shown individual strengths, we need to perform collectively to secure victories,” he added.
Imad Wasim conveyed his aspirations for the Falcons to emerge as the champions this year.
“Winning a trophy brings immense satisfaction. History remembers the victors, not the runners-up. Our aim is to be the winning team this year.”
For context, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are scheduled to inaugurate their CPL 2025 campaign against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Friday.
