Trinbago Knight Riders Acquire Two Pakistani Talents

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, set to kick off on August 14, will feature five players hailing from Pakistan.

During today’s highly anticipated draft, four of the six competing teams secured the services of Pakistani players, or those from the Pakistani diaspora, including former international star Mohammad Amir.

Amir, a veteran of four CPL seasons, will join the Trinbago Knight Riders, marking his fourth team affiliation in the league since 2021.

Mohammad Amir has participated in 39 games across four seasons, claiming 51 wickets with an average of 18.09.

The left-arm fast bowler will be accompanied by Usman Tariq, who is poised to make his debut in an overseas league following successful stints in two Pakistan Super League (PSL) seasons in 2024 and 2025.

In addition, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz is also slated to participate in his inaugural CPL season, having been selected by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Another seasoned Pakistani all-rounder, Imad Wasim, will return to the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons after the franchise released him prior to the player draft.

Imad stands as the most experienced Pakistani player in the league, having competed in seven editions and a total of 64 matches.

Last year’s runner-up, Guyana Amazon Warriors, have enlisted the services of Pakistan-based spin all-rounder Hasan Khan, who is reportedly transitioning to USA cricket. The 13th edition of the CPL will be held from August 14 to September 21.

The tournament format will remain consistent with prior seasons, consisting of 30 league-stage matches among six teams.

This will then lead to four exciting playoff matches: the eliminator, two qualifiers, and the final.

The defending champions, St Lucia Kings, will compete against Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.

The Falcons are stepping in to replace the Jamaica Tallawahs, who were removed before the 2024 season.
