Bradley Beal Agrees to Join Los Angeles Clippers
NBA All-Star Bradley Beal and the Phoenix Suns have mutually decided to end their association, reaching an agreement on a buyout for the remainder of his existing contract.
Beal intends to ink a two-year, $11 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. This agreement features a player option for the 2026–27 season, offering Beal the chance to explore free agency next summer.
Beal is set to become part of a revamped Clippers lineup that includes Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and recent addition Brook Lopez.
It is anticipated that he will assume the starting shooting guard role, previously held by Norman Powell, who was moved to the Miami Heat in a three-team transaction that brought John Collins to L.A. from Utah.
Beal, who posted an average of 17.6 points with a shooting accuracy of 50.5 percent in the prior season, selected the Clippers following a comprehensive free agency period that involved interest from the Heat, Bucks, Timberwolves, Warriors, and Lakers. James Harden was instrumental in convincing Beal to come to Los Angeles.
To facilitate the buyout, Beal is relinquishing $13.9 million of the $110 million remaining on his original contract.
This decision grants the Suns considerable financial flexibility under the salary cap, liberating them from the league’s second tax apron and permitting the utilization of the midlevel exception and expanded trade possibilities.
The Suns have significantly altered their roster, trading Kevin Durant and focusing on building around Devin Booker with a more youthful group under the direction of new head coach Jordan Ott.
For the Clippers, Beal contributes established scoring skills and playmaking capabilities to a competitive roster. His career statistics include averages of 21.5 points, 4.3 assists, and a three-point shooting percentage of 37.6 percent. Although injuries hampered his time in Phoenix, he now has a fresh opportunity with a team poised for the playoffs.
