Chisora Issues Strong Advice on Potential Usyk vs. Itauma Matchup
Both Moses Itauma and Oleksandr Usyk boast unblemished records in their respective boxing careers.
Derek Chisora has presented a definitive prediction regarding a hypothetical contest between Oleksandr Usyk and Moses Itauma.
Itauma has rapidly become a notable presence, maintaining a perfect record of 13 wins, with 11 of those achieved by way of knockout.
At just 20 years old, Itauma exhibits remarkable talent and has drawn comparisons to legendary figures such as Mike Tyson since his early years.
Chisora, having previously faced Usyk in a bout that resulted in a loss with scores of 117-112, 115-113, 115-113, shared his perspective on a potential showdown between Itauma and the heavyweight champion.
Speaking with a sports outlet, Chisora, known as ‘Del Boy,’ cautioned against the young British boxing prospect facing Usyk.
“He really shouldn’t take a fight against Usyk. Disregard the hype suggesting a win would be incredible. We are building something substantial here, and we shouldn’t look for a quick payout by pushing him into such a fight prematurely,” Chisora stated.
He suggested that Itauma should continue his development and avoid being rushed into a match against Usyk.
“Allow him to develop his skills properly, so we can focus on him achieving comprehensive success in due course. We shouldn’t rush him based on knockout victories over lesser opponents,” he elaborated.
Chisora ultimately recognized Oleksandr Usyk as an exceptional athlete, suggesting that Usyk would likely outperform Itauma in a potential fight.
“Oleksandr Usyk, an extraordinary athlete, would likely overwhelm him. I admire Moses, but I don’t believe he would defeat Usyk,” Chisora concluded.
Usyk’s record stands at 24-0, including 15 knockouts. His most recent fight was against Daniel Dubois, whom he defeated in the fifth round of their rematch at Wembley Stadium on July 19, securing his position as the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time.
Usyk has also made history as the first boxer to attain undisputed champion status for a third time, having previously achieved this at cruiserweight (2018) and heavyweight (2024).
