Chelsea’s Pursuit of Xavi Simons Faces Hurdle
Reports from international media outlets indicate that Chelsea has expressed interest in acquiring RB Leipzig’s midfielder, Xavi Simons.
Simons is aligned with Leipzig regarding a potential move to the Premier League, as the Dutch winger is reportedly keen on such a transfer. The club is also open to a sale, despite having permanently signed him in January for an initial fee of €50 million ($58.8m).
Simons previously completed a productive 18-month loan period at Leipzig following his permanent switch from Paris Saint-Germain.
Sources suggest that Leipzig aims to realize a profit from any sale and is seeking a transfer fee exceeding €60m.
While Simons has garnered interest from other clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, he has not yet reached an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Tottenham will actively pursue the player this time.
Additionally, Chelsea has initiated discussions with Ajax concerning centre-back Jorrel Hato.
Hato, a 19-year-old, has made a strong impression with his performances in the Eredivisie last season, making 31 appearances for Ajax.
British media sources indicate that the talks between Chelsea and Hato are in preliminary stages, and no agreement is currently in place.
