Cavaliers Achieve Historic Playoff Victory, Sweep Heat
MIAMI: The Cleveland Cavaliers showcased a dominant performance, securing a 4-0 series sweep against the Miami Heat with an overwhelming 138-83 victory in Game 4 at the Kaseya Center Arena on Tuesday.
The remarkable 55-point difference stands as the fourth-largest blowout in NBA playoff history.
Donovan Mitchell was the high scorer for Cleveland, registering 22 points. De’Andre Hunter added 19, Ty Jerome scored 18, and Evan Mobley contributed 17 points.
The Cavaliers triumphed in the series by a total of 122 points—marking the most significant cumulative margin in NBA playoff history. This surpassed the previous record held by the Denver Nuggets, who had a 121-point margin over the New Orleans Hornets in 2009.
“We stepped onto the court with a clear objective,” Mitchell stated. “Our goal was to maintain pressure and execute our game plan for the full 48 minutes.”
The Cavaliers quickly established control, winning the first quarter 43-17 and expanding their advantage to 72-33 by the half.
Cleveland’s aggressive offense increased the lead to as much as 60 points in the final quarter, reaching 138-78 before Miami managed to score five consecutive points near the end to lessen the final margin.
“We arrived here with the correct mindset,” stated Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson. “Our maturity and leadership, cultivated throughout the year, were evident. We maintained consistency, which is noteworthy.”
For the Heat, Nikola Jović led with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Bam Adebayo scored 13 points. Miami struggled throughout the game and could not overcome their early deficit.
With this series sweep, the Cavaliers progress to the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they will compete against the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks versus Indiana Pacers series.
