Campbell Hatton Ends Boxing Career to Install Solar Panels
Campbell Hatton, son of famed boxer Ricky Hatton, has retired from professional boxing at the age of 24. He is transitioning to a career as a solar panel installer, as confirmed by his father.
Campbell’s final appearance in the ring was in October 2024. He faced James Flint and suffered his second straight loss, concluding his boxing journey with a record of 14 wins and 2 defeats.
During a recent interview, Ricky Hatton, a two-weight world champion, addressed his son’s future, stating definitively that Campbell would not be returning to the ring.
“Campbell will not be fighting again,” Ricky Hatton declared.
“He didn’t have extensive amateur experience. He tried his hand as an amateur, then turned professional and gave it a shot.
“He competed for the Area title and was defeated. I personally felt he lost that match. However, he immediately fought the same opponent again. I believed he won the second bout; both were closely contested. But he seemed to lose some of his enthusiasm, and a few issues arose.”
Ricky, who will be 47 in October, began coaching his son in March of this year, prior to Campbell’s decision to retire from the sport.
Ricky mentioned that the loss of a close friend significantly affected Campbell in recent times. Ultimately, Ricky advised Campbell to retire from boxing.
“He experienced a difficult period and his heart wasn’t fully in his training,” Ricky explained.
“I told him, ‘You should be proud of what you’ve accomplished; you gave it your best shot. But if you’ve lost your passion, you need to step away.’ Boxing isn’t something you can half-heartedly participate in like other sports. So, I gave him my advice, and now he’s working with solar panels.”
