Notably, New Zealand secured the FIH Nations Cup title by decisively defeating Pakistan 6-2 in the final, hosted at the National Hockey Stadium this past Sunday.

New Zealand commenced the match aggressively, promptly scoring two goals that were initially dismissed. However, Scott Cosslett successfully converted a penalty corner in the sixth minute, establishing their lead.

Sam Hiha amplified their advantage with a skillful field goal in the closing moments of the first quarter. The second quarter witnessed heightened aggression from New Zealand, with Dylan Thomas scoring the third goal within the initial two minutes.

Subsequently, Sean Findlay executed a remarkable field goal, followed by Scott Boyde securing the fifth goal with roughly four minutes remaining before halftime.

Pakistan retaliated in the third quarter, with Zikriya Hayat achieving their first goal in the fifth minute. Despite obtaining five penalty corners during the third quarter, Pakistan failed to capitalize, maintaining the score at 5-1.

During the final quarter, both teams displayed tremendous intensity. New Zealand augmented their lead through another penalty corner conversion by Cosslett.

Pakistan managed to score a second goal via Sufyan Khan, who converted a penalty corner in the ensuing minute. Yet, it proved inadequate to spark a resurgence.

New Zealand validated their triumph with a convincing 6-2 victory, claiming the FIH Nations Cup trophy and thwarting Pakistan’s hopes for a fairytale conclusion to their impressive campaign.
