Brewers Extend Winning Streak with Comeback Victory

CINCINNATI: At Great American Ball Park on Friday, Christian Yelich propelled the Milwaukee Brewers to a 10-8 victory over the Cincinnati Reds with two home runs and five RBIs, contributing to a significant comeback from a seven-run deficit.

The Brewers’ triumph marked their 13th consecutive win, equaling a franchise record established in 1987. Yelich’s impressive performance included four hits in five at-bats. His solo homer in the sixth inning, against reliever Scott Barlow (6-1), put Milwaukee ahead for the first time. His pair of home runs increased his season tally to 25.

Milwaukee’s record now stands at 77-44, the best in Major League Baseball. The Brewers have secured 28 victories in their most recent 32 games, outscoring their opponents 36-13 in the last three, achieving at least 10 runs in each contest.

Cincinnati initially seemed poised for a comfortable win, scoring eight runs in the second inning. Rookie All-Star Jacob Misiorowski, returning from an injury, pitched for just one and one-third innings. DL Hall then surrendered five consecutive hits, including a two-run double by Elly De La Cruz.

Milwaukee responded promptly with a five-run third inning, featuring an RBI double from Yelich and a three-run homer by Andrew Vaughn.

The Brewers’ bullpen then took control, retiring the final 23 Reds batters. Nick Mears (4-3) claimed the win after pitching a flawless fifth inning, and Trevor Megill sealed the victory with his 29th save.

The Brewers are aiming to continue their historic run as they pursue the best stretch in franchise history and aim to clinch the NL Central title decisively.

Milwaukee’s Quinn Priester is slated to pitch on Saturday against Cincinnati’s Zack Littell.
