Dortmund Extends Manager Niko Kovac’s Contract; Chukwuemeka Signs Permanent Deal
Borussia Dortmund has officially announced the permanent acquisition of Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea, securing his services until June 2030. The confirmation came from the club on Tuesday.
The former England U19 player spent the previous season with the German club on a loan arrangement.
Last season, the 21-year-old participated in 17 games for Dortmund, managing to score only a single goal.
Chukwuemeka conveyed his excitement about joining BVB, pledging to dedicate himself entirely to achieving team objectives.
“Becoming a permanent part of BVB feels amazing,” Chukwuemeka stated.
“Over the last several months, I’ve familiarized myself with this club, the coach, my teammates, and the supporters. I am extremely pleased that Borussia Dortmund is now my established footballing residence.
“I will do everything in my power to ensure that we collectively accomplish our goals.”
In related news, Dortmund’s head coach, Niko Kovac, has also agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at the club until June 2027.
Kovac commented on the recent improvements, noting the significant efforts made to revitalize Borussia Dortmund’s performance.
He further stated their collective ability to achieve remarkable milestones and ensure sustained success for the club.
“Over the past half-year, we’ve collectively made considerable strides in steering Borussia Dortmund back towards success on the field,” Kovac remarked.
“We feel a strong sense of confidence placed in us as coaches, and we believe that, in collaboration with the club and the fans, we are capable of accomplishing something truly exceptional here.
“The discussions we’ve engaged in over recent weeks have only strengthened my belief that, based on what we’ve already achieved, we can guarantee lasting success at this club.”
Since taking over in January, Kovac has enjoyed a successful period with the Bundesliga team. Under his guidance, BVB reached the Champions League quarterfinals and climbed from 11th to fourth place in the German top League.
