Blue Jays Secure 11th Straight Home Win Against Yankees
TORONTO: The Toronto Blue Jays achieved a 4–1 triumph over the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre on Monday, fueled by a stellar pitching performance from Kevin Gausman and a crucial two-run double by Bo Bichette, marking their 11th consecutive victory at home.
This win establishes a new franchise record for the Blue Jays, surpassing their previous benchmark of a 10-game home winning streak set in 1985.
Toronto scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a pair of throwing errors by the Yankees on ground balls. Bo Bichette’s two-run double was a key moment, giving the Blue Jays a significant advantage.
Kevin Gausman delivered an outstanding performance as the starting pitcher, conceding just one run on four hits over seven innings while recording eight strikeouts.
This stellar effort allowed the Blue Jays to extend their lead in the American League East to four games over the Yankees, who are in second place.
Jeff Hoffman, the reliever, sealed the victory by striking out all three batters in the ninth inning, earning his 24th save of the season.
The Yankees’ lone run came from a solo home run by Giancarlo Stanton in the fourth inning, who hit a hanging splitter from Gausman into left field.
Carlos Rodon, the Yankees’ starter, struggled with his command, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and issuing five walks in five innings. He did manage to strike out four batters.
Earlier in the game, the Blue Jays loaded the bases in the second inning with a double and two walks, but Joey Loperfido grounded out, ending the scoring opportunity.
New York had another chance to score in the third when Trent Grisham doubled with two outs, and Aaron Judge received an intentional walk. However, Jazz Chisholm Jr. struck out to conclude the inning.
Looking forward, Max Scherzer is scheduled to pitch for the Blue Jays on Tuesday, while Cam Schlittler will take the mound for the Yankees.
