Curran anticipates a challenging second Test against Bangladesh

SYLHET: Ahead of the second and final Test match against Bangladesh, Zimbabwean batsman Ben Curran emphasized the importance of maintaining focus. The match is scheduled to commence on Sunday.

Zimbabwe secured their first away Test victory since 2018 on Wednesday, narrowly defeating Bangladesh by three wickets.

Interestingly, their previous victory also occurred at the same location against the same opponent.

The team from Africa also achieved their highest successful run chase in this match, surpassing their previous record of 162 against Pakistan in November 1998.

Despite the significant victory in the first match, Curran expects a strong response from the home side. He stressed that his teammates must continue to put in hard work to replicate their previous performance.

“We know Bangladesh will come back strong. We don’t expect it to be an easy contest, and we will have to fight for every advantage. Hopefully, we can repeat our performance from the first Test,” Curran stated.

The victory also marked a personal milestone for Curran, as it was his first Test victory since his debut in early 2024.

The left-handed opening batter scored 18 runs in the first innings and followed it up with a crucial 44-run contribution as part of a 95-run opening partnership with Brian Bennett.

“It feels fantastic, particularly after putting in a lot of preparation for the series. Of course, the series is not over yet, and we have another important match coming up.”

“Winning Tests boosts the team’s morale. Each player will take away valuable lessons from the victory in Sylhet. We’ll be in a strong position as long as we continue to develop individually.”

“Being relatively new to international cricket, I’m eager to learn as much as possible from Sean and Craig. Their experience will be invaluable to my development,” he added.
