Curran Foresees a Challenging Second Test Against Bangladesh

SYLHET: Ahead of the final Test match against Bangladesh, Zimbabwean batter Ben Curran urged his teammates to stay focused. The match is scheduled to begin on Sunday.

Zimbabwe secured their first away Test victory since 2018 on Wednesday, narrowly defeating Bangladesh by three wickets. The previous victory also took place at the same venue against the same opponent.

The team also achieved their highest successful run chase, exceeding their previous record of 162 against Pakistan in November 1998.

Curran anticipates a strong response from the opposition in the upcoming match, despite their recent triumph. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of performance.

“We anticipate a determined effort from Bangladesh. This will not be an easy contest, and we must strive in every moment. We are aiming to replicate our performance from the previous game,” Curran stated.

This victory marked a personal milestone for Curran, representing his first Test win since joining the red-ball format in early 2024.

The left-handed opener scored 18 in the first innings and followed up with a crucial 44-run contribution in a 95-run opening partnership with Brian Bennett.

“It’s a fantastic feeling, especially after the hard work leading up to the series. However, the series is ongoing, and there’s a significant game ahead.”

“Winning Tests boosts confidence. Everyone will gain valuable insights from the Sylhet victory. If we are prepared to develop individually, we will be in a strong position.”

“As a newcomer to international cricket, I am eager to learn from experienced players like Sean and Craig. Their knowledge will aid my growth, and I would be unwise not to leverage their expertise,” he concluded.
