BCCI Announces Venue Changes for India-West Indies Test and Other Fixtures

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed alterations to the schedule for the 2024–25 season, including modifications to men’s and women’s international matches and ‘A’ tours.

Venue Swap for India-West Indies and India-South Africa Tests

The second Test of the two-match series between India and West Indies, initially scheduled for Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in October, will now be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Correspondingly, Kolkata will now be the venue for the first Test of the India vs South Africa series, previously planned for Delhi, from November 14 to 18.

Women’s ODI Series Venue Changes

Chennai will no longer host the three ODIs against Australia in September.

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) cited ongoing pitch and outfield renovations at the MA Chidambaram Stadium for the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup as the reason for not being able to host the matches.

Consequently, the women’s ODI series has been relocated to New Chandigarh and Delhi. The PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host the first two games, with the Arun Jaitley Stadium staging the third and final ODI.

The series will span from September 14 to 20. New Chandigarh was chosen partly to make up for not being selected as a venue for the Women’s World Cup.

India A vs South Africa A Matches Relocated

The three one-day matches between India A and South Africa A have been moved from the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

Bengaluru is among the five Indian cities selected to host matches during the Women’s World Cup, including the opening game and the final. However, if Pakistan qualifies for the final, it will be played in Colombo, along with all other matches involving Pakistan.

New BCCI Facility to Host First-Class Matches

The BCCI’s new facility near Bengaluru will serve as a first-class venue, hosting two four-day matches between India A and South Africa A from October 30 to November 10.
