Bangladesh Announces Squad for Sri Lanka Test Series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed its 16-member team on Wednesday for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which is set to begin on June 17 in Galle.

A notable inclusion is right-arm bowler Ebadot Hossain, returning to the side after nearly two years following recovery from an ACL injury. Hossain’s last international match was an ODI against Afghanistan in July 2023, where he sustained the injury.

Additionally, Litton Das, the T20I captain, is set to rejoin the Test team, having been rested for the series against Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanvir Islam, and Tanzim Hasan have been omitted from the Test squad for the Sri Lanka series. Ace pacer Taskin Ahmed was unable to recover in time for selection.

The two-Test series, scheduled from June 17 to 29 in Galle and Colombo, marks the beginning of both teams’ World Test Championship (WTC) campaign.

This series is Sri Lanka’s only home series until mid-2026 and Bangladesh’s only series in the next WTC cycle. The Tigers are also scheduled to play a Test series against Ireland, but it is not part of the WTC.

Following the Test matches, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will compete in a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series.

The ODIs, all day-night affairs, will be held in Khettarama and Pallekele from July 2 to 8. The T20Is are scheduled to take place in Pallekele, Dambulla, and Khettarama from July 10 to 16.
