Das Emphasizes Rotation Policy to Safeguard Key Bangladesh Pacers
DHAKA: Bangladesh’s T20I captain, Litton Das, addressed his bowling unit on Thursday, urging them to refine their effectiveness in the final overs. This comes as the team gears up for the ICC T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka next year.
Following Bangladesh’s 2-1 series triumph against Pakistan on Friday, Litton commended the team’s initial bowling efforts but emphasized the importance of maintaining composure during the concluding overs.
“Our bowling has been strong with the new ball, yet we must enhance our performance in the death overs. The team shares this view,” Litton stated.
Despite recent consecutive T20I series victories, including one against Sri Lanka and another against Pakistan, Litton believes there is still considerable potential for enhancement in critical stages of the game.
“We recognize Mustafizur [Rahman]’s capability in the death overs, and this period is crucial for others to improve before the World Cup. Success in this area will elevate our overall team performance,” he remarked.
The captain also highlighted Bangladesh’s strategy of rotating fast bowlers to mitigate the risk of injuries among key players like Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman.
“Taskin’s return to T20s follows an extended absence. Consistent play increases the likelihood of injury. Shoriful faces similar challenges, having experienced recurrent groin problems,” Litton elaborated.
Litton further voiced confidence in the middle order, which includes Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, and Shamim Patowary. However, he underscored the necessity of dependable backup options in preparation for the global competition.
“Losing any of our key pacers would adversely affect our strategies. Therefore, managing their fitness is paramount,” he concluded.
