Bangladesh Announces Squad Changes After Test Defeat
Following a narrow three-wicket loss to Zimbabwe in the initial Test match, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed a revised 15-member team. This squad will compete in the second and last Test of the series, commencing on Monday at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium.
Zimbabwe’s victory over the hosts in Sylhet marked their first Test win in over four years. The visitors successfully chased a target of 174, overcoming a wobble from 95/0 to 161/7.
This triumph was Zimbabwe’s first in the Test format since their victory against Afghanistan in March 2021.
In response to the setback, Bangladesh has implemented two significant alterations to their squad. Experienced opener Anamul Haque Bijoy, whose last Test appearance was in 2022, makes a comeback to the side after a three-year absence.
The 32-year-old cricketer has displayed impressive form in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League and recently achieved a milestone, becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to reach 50 centuries in recognized cricket formats.
Additionally, uncapped left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam has been included, replacing Nahid Rana, who is scheduled to participate in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 for Peshawar Zalmi.
Zakir Hasan, who was not part of the first Test, has been omitted from the squad.
