Mitchell Starc Returns to Sydney Sixers After Long Absence

Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc is preparing to rejoin the Sydney Sixers for the 15th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). This marks his first stint with the team in almost 11 years.

The Sixers made the announcement on social media, stating that Starc is expected to join the squad following the conclusion of the Ashes series.

Starc’s previous appearance for the Sixers was in the 2014–15 BBL season (BBL 04). Throughout his BBL career, he has participated in 10 matches, securing 20 wickets at an average of 14.85 and an economy rate of 7.92.

His inclusion enhances a strong lineup that features Babar Azam, Steve Smith, and Josh Hazlewood.

BBL 15 is scheduled to commence on December 14 with a match between the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers at Perth Stadium. This game will also mark the debut of Pakistan’s batter Babar Azam for the Sixers.

Moreover, Pakistan’s representation in the BBL has grown. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the top pick in the BBL 15 Draft, with Brisbane Heat acquiring him under the platinum category.

Mohammad Rizwan, former Pakistan T20I captain, was chosen by the Melbourne Renegades, signifying his initial BBL season.

Haris Rauf was retained by the Melbourne Stars, where he has taken 36 wickets in 22 games since 2019.

Shadab Khan, Pakistan’s T20I vice-captain, is set to play for Sydney Thunder, his fourth BBL team after previous spells with Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers, and Hobart Hurricanes.

Hasan Ali has signed with Adelaide Strikers, marking his first appearance in the league.
