West Indies Penalized for Slow Over Rate Against Australia
ST. KITTS: The West Indies cricket team has been fined 10% of their match fee due to a slow over rate during their fourth T20 International match against Australia on July 26 in St. Kitts.
According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate offenses, a team is fined five percent of their match fee for each over they fail to bowl in the allotted time, considering any time allowances. The West Indies were found to be two overs short during the game.
Captain Shai Hope has accepted the sanction proposed by the ICC match officials, which means a formal hearing will not be necessary.
The T20I series has been marked by high scores, with Australia successfully chasing targets exceeding 200 in the previous two games.
In the third T20I, Tim David delivered the fastest T20I century by an Australian player, while in the fourth match, half-centuries from Josh Inglis and Cameron Green, alongside a quick 47 from Glenn Maxwell, led Australia to victory in the final over.
Australia completed a dominant 5-0 series victory over the West Indies, showcasing another commanding performance in the fifth and final T20I.
Tim David and Mitchell Owen together hit seven sixes, guiding Australia to chase down the 171-run target in just 17 overs.
