Noman Ali Featured in Cricket Australia’s WTC Team of the Tournament

Cricket Australia has revealed its World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 Team of the Tournament, acknowledging Pakistan’s Noman Ali with a coveted spot in the XI. This selection recognizes his consistent excellence throughout the two-year period.

His inclusion highlights his outstanding performances during the cycle, earning him recognition over renowned players such as Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc. The WTC 2023–25 cycle provided exciting cricket, crowded stadiums, and exceptional batting and bowling displays.

From England’s remarkable comeback to draw the 2023 Ashes series 2-2, to Australia’s 3-1 series victory against India securing their place in the WTC final, the competition fulfilled expectations. Pakistan also made waves with a significant comeback against England, securing a 2-1 series victory after an initial setback.

Noman Ali was pivotal in this triumph, establishing himself as a leading bowler during the cycle. Despite participating in just six Tests, Noman’s stats were remarkable. He captured 46 wickets at an impressive average of 14.76 and a strike rate of 27.6, unmatched by any other bowler delivering over 100 overs in the cycle.

His most notable performance occurred in Multan, where he destabilized England with impressive figures of 8 for 46 in the second innings, marking the best bowling performance by any player in the WTC cycle. He concluded the series with 19 wickets in the final two Tests, contributing to Pakistan’s series win alongside Sajid Khan.

Noman’s impact went beyond the England series, commencing the cycle with a 7 for 70 performance against Sri Lanka in Galle, and concluding it with 6 for 41 against the West Indies in January 2025, strengthening his reputation as a game-changer.
