Astros Edge Out Orioles in High-Scoring Affair

BALTIMORE: In a captivating MLB game held at Camden Yards on Friday, Jeremy Pena and Christian Walker powered the Houston Astros to a 10-7 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, each player contributing three-run home runs amidst a late-game surge from the opposition.

Following a pair of fielding miscues by Baltimore in the opening inning, Pena propelled his 14th homer of the season, granting Houston an initial 4-0 advantage. In the fifth inning, Walker amplified the lead with his 18th homer of the year, his second consecutive, extending the score to 7-3.

The Orioles rallied, narrowing the gap to 7-6. However, Pena responded with an RBI double, and Victor Caratini delivered a vital two-run double in the eighth, reestablishing Houston’s lead.

Astros’ starting pitcher, Lance McCullers Jr., pitched for only four innings, conceding three runs from five hits and five walks. Steven Okert (2-2) secured the win as a relief pitcher, and Bryan Abreu finalized the game with 1 1/3 scoreless innings, earning his second save of the season.

For Baltimore, Vimael Machin and Colton Cowser each contributed home runs, while Luis Vazquez and Gunnar Henderson each tallied two hits. Jeremiah Jackson added two singles and scored three runs. Despite their offensive performance, the Orioles left 11 runners on base.

Cade Povich (2-7), the starting pitcher, was burdened with the defeat after yielding six runs (four earned) from six hits over 4 2/3 innings.

The Astros, despite being outhit 13-10, successfully leveraged Baltimore’s mistakes and capitalized on opportunities with runners in scoring position. This triumph signifies Houston’s second consecutive win following a previous four-game slump, while the Orioles suffered their second straight loss.
