Astros Secure Series Win Against Marlins with Strong Offensive Display

MIAMI: Yainer Diaz propelled the Houston Astros to a 7-3 victory over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday at LoanDepot Park with a powerful three-run homer. Jose Altuve contributed a two-run shot as Houston clinched its second consecutive win in the series, showcasing an impressive offensive performance.

The Astros established early dominance, maintaining consistent pressure on Miami. Jesus Sanchez, formerly with the Marlins, singled before Altuve blasted his 19th home run of the season, a 374-foot drive to left field off starting pitcher Cal Quantrill.

Jeremy Pena amplified the attack with a two-run triple in the fourth inning. Diaz followed up with a 405-foot homer in the fifth, marking his 16th of the year. Houston’s relentless hitting kept Miami struggling defensively throughout the contest.

The Astros employed a strategic bullpen approach, beginning with Steven Okert, who pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing one run. Rookie AJ Blubaugh (1-1) achieved his first major league win, delivering five solid innings with five strikeouts while conceding just three hits.

Quantrill, previously in excellent form with three quality starts in a row, encountered significant difficulties. He allowed nine hits, issued three walks, and surrendered seven runs in just four and one-third innings.

A highlight for Miami was rookie Jakob Marsee, who went two-for-two with a walk and hit his first major league home run.

Across five games, Marsee is batting .500 (six-for-12) with five extra-base hits and five walks. Eric Wagaman also homered for the Marlins, his sixth this season.

Houston’s bullpen remained solid, with closer Josh Hader pitching a scoreless ninth inning. In Wednesday’s series finale, right-hander Spencer Arrighetti will start for the Astros, while Janson Junk will take the mound for Miami.
