Kuldeep Yadav Achieves Second-Best Bowling Performance in Asia Cup T20 History

In a recent Asia Cup 2025 match held in Dubai, India’s Kuldeep Yadav distinguished himself by achieving a remarkable bowling feat, surpassing Shadab Khan’s previous record. The match took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium against the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Kuldeep delivered an exceptional performance, securing 4 wickets for just 7 runs. This showing eclipsed Shadab Khan’s previous record of 4 wickets for 8 runs, which he achieved against Hong Kong in Sharjah during the 2022 tournament.

Kuldeep’s spell is now recognized as the second-best bowling performance in the Asia Cup T20’s history.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar of India still holds the top position with a stunning 5/4 against Afghanistan in 2022, marking the only instance of a five-wicket haul in the tournament.

Kuldeep’s excellent bowling, along with Abhishek Sharma’s powerful batting, led India to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over the UAE.

Chasing a target of 58, India swiftly secured the win in merely 4.3 overs, losing only one wicket. Sharma impressed with a rapid 30 off 16 deliveries, which included two fours and three sixes.

He and Shubman Gill formed a strong opening partnership of 48 runs. Gill remained unbeaten with 20 runs from nine balls, while captain Suryakumar Yadav ended the match not out on seven. Junaid Siddique, a pacer from the UAE, claimed the sole wicket.

Earlier in the match, Suryakumar’s decision to bowl first proved beneficial as the Indian bowlers dismissed the UAE for a meager 57 in 13.1 overs.

The UAE began positively, with openers Alishan Sharafu and captain Muhammad Waseem putting together 26 runs in the first four overs.

Sharafu scored the highest with 22 runs off 17 balls, hitting three fours and one six, before Jasprit Bumrah bowled him out with a precise yorker. Subsequently, Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Muhammad Zohaib (2), leaving the UAE at 29/2.

Waseem (19 off 22) and Rahul Chopra (3) attempted to stabilize the innings, but both were quickly dismissed, leading to a significant collapse. The UAE lost their final six wickets for only nine runs, resulting in a very low total.

Kuldeep spearheaded the bowling attack with a four-wicket haul, while Shivam Dube took three wickets. Axar Patel, Chakravarthy, and Bumrah each contributed with one wicket, ensuring a convincing victory for India.
