Asia Cup 2025: Commentary Panel Unveiled
DUBAI: The commentary lineup for the Asia Cup 2025, commencing on Tuesday, has been officially announced.
The global broadcast commentary team will feature Pakistani pace legends Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, along with Bazid Khan, as well as prominent cricket analysts such as VVS Laxman, Sanjay Manjrekar, Robin Uthappa, Russel Arnold, and Simon Doull.
Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri and batting icon Sunil Gavaskar will also lend their expertise to the panel.
The Hindi commentary team boasts well-known figures like Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Ajay Jadeja, former Indian batting coach Abhishek Nayar, and Saba Karim.
This edition of the Asia Cup will be contested in the T20 format, serving as important preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February.
A total of eight teams, split into two groups, will vie for the coveted championship. Group A consists of Pakistan, India, UAE, and Oman, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong.
The tournament will kick off with a Group B match between Afghanistan and Hong Kong. Pakistan’s first match will be against Oman on September 12, followed by a highly anticipated match against India on September 14.
Pakistan will conclude their group matches against UAE on September 17.
The top two teams from each group will proceed to the Super Four stage, potentially leading to another encounter between Pakistan and India on September 21.
The final is scheduled for September 28, where the top two teams from the Super Four will battle for the title.
